Royalty for a night is a charitable project managed by the NGO, Yes She Can, that collects gently worn or new, formal wear and distributes to graduating secondary school students who are in need of this support, to afford them the opportunity to attend their graduation ball. This project is in it’s 3rd year and over this period, has served hundreds of male and female graduates.

In addition to the formal wear, we also provide opportunities for students to be exposed to various life skill sessions which are facilitated on distribution day.

The project also connects volunteer service providers (make up artists, hairdressers/barbers, room managers, floor assistants and registration aides) who work with the students in preparing for their big day.

The prom drive begins in the first week of May, and ends in June with Distribution Day. If you’re interested in volunteering or being apart of our initiative during the period of May-June, please send us an email.

+ Where are the dresses from?

Prior to distribution day, we condct a prom drive throughout Trinidad where persons can donate their male and female formal wear. All items must be gently used, age-appropriate, fashionable, and cleaned prior to donation. We have previously received dress donations from companies such as Kooti's Clothing.

+ What happens on Distribution Day?

Each student is paired with a volunteer who will assist them in selecting the perfect ensemble. After outfit selections, students can then shop for jewelry, shoes and other accessories to complete their look. They each receive a shopping bag to put their items in. Lastly students will head over to services table to collect their vouchers for make-up, and hair.

+ Is there a cost attached

No, Royalty For A Night is a free service to all attendees.
